Please enter a valid URL. Protocol is required (http://, https:// or ftp://) issue in Magento Installation

By Expertwebadvisor | Last Updated: September 5, 2015 | In: Magento

Recently, I faced very strange problem while installing Magento Ver. 1.9.2 on my local server on Ubuntu System, it is showing the error "Please enter a valid URL. Protocol is required (http://, https:// or ftp://)", Where as it is not showing any error in the lower version of the Magento installation. The main reason for the error is Magento won't consider the local server url as a valid url. here in this post I am describing how we can solve the problem so that can install the Magento on the Local server. It is very simple you just have to remove the validation for the particular section for this just follow the steps given below:
Please enter a valid URL. Protocol is required (http://, https:// or ftp://) issue in Magento Installation

Step 1 : Navigate to the \app\design\install\default\default\template\install\ and open config.phtml file in your favourite editor.
Step 2 : Search for the “config[unsecure_base_url]” it is for the base url. You can find it around line no 50.
Step 3 : Now check for the class of this input box it will just like as class=”required-entry validate-url input-text”
Step 4 : Now remove the “validate-url” from this class of the input box and it will look like as class=”required-entry input-text”
Step 5 : Save the File and refresh the frontend url.
